Around the world, November 13 is recognized as World Kindness Day – an opportunity to demonstrate how small acts of care and compassion can positively impact our workplace and our lives.
Some days, it can feel like we’re drowning in negativity – weighed down by the struggles we see happening around the world, compounded by the stresses of life’s daily challenges. While we may not be able to change big-picture problems, collectively, small acts of kindness can have a big impact. A kind word or thoughtful good deed can change someone’s day, lighten their burden and encourage them to pay that kindness forward.
And, it’s good for you! Science shows us that engaging in acts of kindness boosts serotonin and dopamine – neurotransmitters in the brain that make us feel satisfied – while releasing endorphins – the “feel-good” hormones that act as natural stress and pain relievers.
In recognition of this day – and every day – we encourage Avanos employees to embrace kindness by being a good listener, expressing gratitude, performing small acts of care, respecting each other and practicing patience.
Remember, kindness is a choice, and your actions have the power to inspire others and create a ripple effect within our communities and throughout the world!
