The Beauty of Partnerships: Reflections on the Launch of The Pearl

by Dave Pacitti, Chief Executive Officer – Avanos Medical

Last week, I had the honor of attending the launch celebration for The Pearl, a transformational innovation district in Charlotte, NC. The event marked the official unveiling of a vision that began years ago – a vision I was proud to help shape during my time at Siemens Healthineers, in close collaboration with my friend and esteemed partner, Gene Woods, CEO of Advocate Health.

Returning to witness that vision come to life was deeply meaningful. What began as an ambitious idea – to bring together medical education, research institutions, and pioneering health technology in one integrated, urban ecosystem – has become a vibrant reality. It’s a testament to what’s possible when we break down silos and build together, and it reignited my belief in the power of partnerships to drive lasting impact.

What moved me most, though, was the promise The Pearl holds for the community. With thousands of new jobs projected for the Charlotte region – and many not requiring a four-year degree – it’s creating real pathways to opportunity. This is what economic mobility looks like. This is equity, fueled by innovation.

Looking Ahead: Avanos and the Spirit of Collaboration

Being at The Pearl was a powerful reminder of the potential we unlock when we embrace partnership – not as a tactic, but as a core strategy. True partnership is built on trust, a shared vision, and the courage to open our doors and invite others in.

The celebration sparked not just reflection on the past, but inspiration for the future – especially for us at Avanos. Partnership is in our DNA. Whether it’s collaborating with clinicians to improve our devices, advancing innovation with research institutions, or forming alliances to broaden access to care, we are at our best when we partner with purpose. The challenges facing healthcare today are too complex for any one organization to solve alone. Last week in Charlotte, I was reminded that the most impactful ideas often come when diverse perspectives unite around a common goal.

As we shape the next chapter of growth for Avanos, this emphasis on collaboration and partnerships will be foundational. We’re already exploring new ways to expand our partnerships across the continuum of care, and I’m energized to lead our company with that spirit of shared success at the heart of our journey.

Here’s to a future where innovation is inclusive, collaboration is the norm, and partnerships pave the way for healthier, more empowered communities.

Let’s build that future – together.
